What is Larimar Crystal?
Larimar is born of a rare combination of limestone and magnesite created by eons of tectonic and aquatic activity in the Caribbean sea. Larimar is a rare blue variety of pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic.
The distinguishing features of larimar are its blue color and its hardness. Larimar is an opaque variety of pectolite with a hardness on the Mohs scale of 6.5 to 7.0, which is higher than that of most other types of gemstones.

Are you buying an authentic Larimar crystal or Dyed Chalcedony being disguised as Blue Larimar from China?
Recently there have been questions asking us why are Larimar crystals being sold so cheaply on Etsy, Ebay and Aliexpress? Are these of good quality?
Our answer to this is, those Larimar stones sold cheaply, some as cheap as a few dollars for a long strand of beautiful larimar are imitations.
They are mostly color-dyed chalcedony or dyed apatite stones that imitate the look of Larimar crystals.
These are the pictures of imitations:
Some sellers on these sites stated inconspicuously that it is Apatite.
Fake Larimar - color-dyed
The seller would tell you that the stones are Natural if you inquire. Indeed these are Natural Stones, but they won't tell you that they are NOT AUTHENTIC LARIMAR.
Here's a description found on the seller page, it is clearly stated that it is "China Larimar". Well, Larimar only comes from the Dominican Republic. So be really careful what you are buying.
